Optus releases iPhone prices

Here we go people. Optus sells iPhone in excess of $300 and that’s why most people will not buy it. The price is ridiculous So much about Steve jobs talking about world price parity. IPhone costs $729 for a black version with no choice in buying a white model and that’s with 8GB of memory. The 16 GB one costs $849 and you can choose between black and white.

iPhone price?

What will be the ultimate price? While some in the industry have said it could be anything from $200 to $800, it is unlikely that Apple will charge more than $400 since above that many people will consider buying some other phone or even a good, decent and high capacity laptop for a mere $699. However, taking into account exchange rates, iPhone should sell for about $220. But, you have import taxes and other ‘payables’ and of course our favorite…GST. So add another $20 as an import fee and another $20 GST, and voila the price is now about $260. Enough speculation. Let’s wait and see.

Nokia reviews its decision about N - Gage

Nokia will review its decision in regards to not allowing people to transfer games between Nokia handsets. The decision was made in order to protect game developers and guarantee revenues. Currently, games cannot be transferred between Nokia handsets resulting in people having to pay for the game again. The final decision hasn’t been made as of yet.

Nokia N70

Looking more like a Blueberry rather than a usual Nokia phone, Nokia N70 is a perfect slim phone for everybody. You can play videos, listen to music and install music and do a lot more. It has HTML browser and about 22 MB of in built memory. Even though its capabilities are as advanced as in Nokia N95, its small size attracts a lot of potential buyers.

Windows Vista Ready Boost Explained

Hi again. This week I will be writing a lot on Windows Vista guys so you better read this if you have Vista installed on your computer.

Well, having installed Windows Vista together with Windows XP, I now realize that Windows Vista is the ultimate memory eater. I suggest that you at least have 1 GB of RAM before even installing Windows Vista. The statement that 512 MB is capable of running Vista is ridiculous since the OS will be running very slow.

However, since it is likely that you will be running some applications and games at the same time, I suggest you use Window Vista’s new feature called Ready Boost. It allows you to use your regular USB or thumb drive as RAM. Just plug your USB drive in and then right click on it and in advanced settings choose allow Ready Boost. When you run out of memory, Windows Vista will automatically use your thumb drive to provide more memory.

Having said, it is wrong to assume that Ready Boost is RAM. Installing additional RAM (I suggest 2 GB for Vista to take advantage of Windows Aero Mode plus you will need at least 64 MB of video memory) will fire up Vista and it will become much faster.

And yeah, with Ready Boost, you not only can use thumb drives, but also SD cards and any other flash memory.

Other ways around this is to install 4 GB of USB memory and thus by doing that you will effectively increase the amount Vista uses off your thumb drive. If you combine additional RAM and plus Ready Boost of at least 2 GB I promise you that Vista will run a lot more faster. Good luck guys.

Laptop Essentials

Whether you are buying Dell or Acer or HP, one of the most important things when it comes to buying laptops is their storage capacity, RAM and of course CPU and video card.
Making sure that you have above 80 GB on your laptop will allow you to install more programs or even multiple operating systems.

Thing you need to know
When buying a laptop make sure that it has more than 1 GB of memory and more than 80 GB of storage capacity. When it comes down to your graphics card, make sure it has at least 64 MB of memory, not shared with RAM but. Graphics cards that use RAM are much slower so it’s better if your laptop has dedicated graphics card. Buying laptop with Nvidia graphics card is a good choice.

Purchasing laptop with 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT would allow you to install vista and enjoy all of its features without any issues.
The processor is another important part of your laptop. Intel Pentium Dual Core will be enough for your laptop. Purchasing a high end laptop will in most cases get a good processor inside it as well.

Games memory usage – How much memory games use?

A common question asked by many gamers. From my experience, if you want to play the latest games, your graphics card has to be to have about 512 MB of memory. If you play games that were released 3 or 4 years ago you would need GeForce 5500. That’s what I have since I don’t really have time to play the latest games and thus I don’t bother upgrading my video card.

Command and Conquer Generals

If you play this game, please note that 8 player map will eat your memory. I tested that on GeForce 5500 and it was using about 450 MB of RAM sometimes, the average would about 300 for sure. So, if you have less than 512 RAM, I suggest you upgrade your ram so you can play this map otherwise it’s going to damn slow. And yeah, upgrade your video card as well if you have anything below GeForce 5500.

Counter Strike Online

You need video card that supports DirectX 9 and plus 512 RAM. I suggest you purchase 512 MB video card (preferably PCI cause it’s heaps cheaper) and have 1 GB of RAM. The game will use more than 200 MB of RAM.

Windows Vista Graphics Card Support

Windows Vista Graphics Card Support

The new operating system will need a lot of memory in order to make it run faster than XP. It is suggested that users have at least 2 GB of RAM before installing Windows Vista. This will allow users to experience the true benefits of the operating system such as its multimedia capabilities and of course the new design named Windows Aero.

When it comes to graphics cards, however, users are advised to choose with caution. This means choosing a graphics card that will last your for at least another 3 to 5 years. As you may well know, Microsoft is already developing it’s new operating system that will replace Vista. Of course that doesn’t mean you have to prepare yourself for that. No one knows what the next operating system will require.

The Vista graphics card should at least have 512 MB of memory that is on the video card alone, leaving out combined video memory together with RAM. Also Microsoft states that users need at least Pixer Shader 2 on their video card to run the latest games and applications.

Now, with 512 MB of video card and 2 GB of random access memory, your new vista ought to run faster. Good luck.
